A Delegation from the Zlín Region Will Present at the World Conference SXSW in Texas

ZLÍN REGION – A delegation from the Zlín Region will participate next week in SXSW 2026 in Austin, Texas — one of the world’s most significant conferences focused on technology and innovation. It will travel to the United States as part of the Czech national delegation, presenting within the joint Czech House showcase. During their stay in the USA, regional representatives will also visit the Czech Embassy in Washington, attend a meeting with the Texas Governor, and take a tour of Elon Musk’s companies — the Tesla car manufacturer and the technology company SpaceX.

The trip to the United States is being prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic together with the CzechTrade agency, the Czech Embassy in Washington, D.C., the CzechTourism USA organisation, and the CzechInvest foreign office in San Francisco. Further partners are also involved in the organisation, including the regional development agency ZRIA, which is managing the Zlín Region delegation’s programme. Its members will include representatives of technology companies from the region, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, the Zlín Technology Innovation Centre, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic.

“Austin is where the world’s leading figures in innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship meet every year. For companies from our region, it is an excellent opportunity to show what they are working on, draw inspiration from new trends, and establish cooperation with investors or potential business partners. I am convinced that once again we will demonstrate that the Zlín Region has many capable people and companies who have something to offer the world,” said Governor Radim Holiš.

Cooperation between the region’s companies and institutions with Texas partners is to be supported by a memorandum of cooperation that the regional development agency ZRIA will sign during the trip with the Bastrop region, located near Austin and San Antonio. The document addresses forms of cooperation between companies, educational and cultural institutions, and approaches to joint work on research and innovation projects.

“It is another practical opportunity for our companies, university, and other institutions to more easily find partners and opportunities in that market or to present themselves there. At the same time, it opens up the possibility for Texas companies and institutions to expand their activities in our region and use it as a gateway to Europe. We have seen that such memoranda open up and facilitate cooperation for specific entities. The Zlín companies that regularly visit Texas with us are proof of that,” said Petr Kubíček, Director of Strategic Development at ZRIA.
